What does Stig Bengmark’s dietary supplement with turmeric contain?

– Turmeric extract

– Source of fats (Phospholipids)

Stig Bengmark’s dietary supplement with turmeric contains the natural antioxidant curcumin, which is optimised to provide maximum bioavailability to blood and target tissues. It also contains a source of fats to optimise absorption, as curcumin is fat-soluble and thus best absorbed together with fat. This combination makes it easier for the body to absorb the active ingredients in turmeric, especially curcumin.

Why should I eat turmeric?

Turmeric has a wide range of benefits, including being shown to have anti-inflammatory and antioxidant properties that can support everything from joint health to heart health.

Turmeric is a root, and the active substance curcumin is thought to support the body’s natural inflammation processes. Many studies indicate that curcumin can reduce inflammation, which can be beneficial in supporting your overall health.

Since curcumin is fat soluble, it’s crucial to combine it with oil/fat to ensure that the body can absorb and use it optimally. This is also the reason why Stig Bengmark’s turmeric contains a fatty base, which increases absorption and enables the body to effectively absorb curcumin’s health benefits.

The anti-inflammatory properties are in the yellow pigment and consist of the molecule curcumin. Curcumin has a low bioavailability, which means that our body has difficulty absorbing it as it is. Therefore, we need to help it along and add other substances to achieve maximum health effects. A dietary supplement with turmeric helps you in a simple and consistent way to get a sufficient amount.

How can I achieve the best uptake of turmeric’s positive properties?

Curcumin (extract from turmeric) has poor bioavailability and needs to be combined with another substance to be absorbed more effectively by the body. In earlier research, piperine (pepper extract) was used, but in more recent research fatty bases have mainly been used.

In order for piperine to be effective, high doses are necessary, which is not optimal for dietary supplements. Piperine can also have a negative effect on common medicines, which in turn can require an increased dosage of these medicines.

Fat, on the other hand, provides increased bioavailability and is able to be absorbed. Curcumin is fat soluble and becomes more stable when surrounded by fat and stays longer in the body before breaking down. Fat also has no negative effects on other medicines.

Due to increased bioavailability, smaller doses can also be used. This means less risk of overdose or ingesting toxic amounts. For the best possible absorption of curcumin, we therefore recommend you eat turmeric with fats/oils. Stig Bengmark’s dietary supplement with turmeric contains the fat source, phospholipids, to improve bioavailability without having to add piperine.

How can I get turmeric through my diet?

In addition to dietary supplements, you can eat turmeric fresh (turmeric root) or in powdered form. You can also make good use of turmeric in cooking – for example in curries, stews and soups. However, it’s important to note that the curcumin content of the turmeric spice is often low, making it difficult to obtain adequate amounts through diet alone. Since turmeric has low bioavailability, quite high doses would be required for you to get the health effects. As a result, a lot of people prefer dietary supplements to ensure they get enough curcumin.
